Wedding Cinema–Film Style Weddings

Jawad from Film Style Weddings contacted me a while back to feature a wedding he shot back in May 2011. I’ve been so crazy busy with real life that I haven’t had the chance to fulfill Jawad’s request–Jawad, please accept my apology.

I first came across Jawad from Film Style Weddings at the most recent Bridalicious. I was impressed by his presentation and was excited when he approached me about featuring his video. Film Style Weddings is a boutique wedding studio offering cinematography to clients across the world. Their aim is to meet, connect and form ongoing friendships with their clients so they can offer a product that is truly designed for them.

Please check out wedding highlights from Annum and Saad’s Toronto wedding! Jawad had the following to say about the couple: “We met Annum mid last year, but didn’t get to meet up with Saad until a few months ago since he is from Boston. Although it’s always good to meet the couple before the wedding, we learned a lot about Saad very much through Annum–and that really is a testament to their wedding.”

Reception venue: Paradise Banquet Hall

(On a separate note, I have to apologize for my long absence. It’s just been so busy lately and I haven’t had time to devote to blogging! And just as I thought things were winding down, I find out I have to move AGAIN! Soo…it’s going to be hectic the next little while and so my blogging will be scarce…however, follow me on Facebook, as I will probably be updating my status regularly!! I am writing this post as J is getting boxes ready to start packing so I better go!)

Love these Looks: Bright lips

I used to shy away from bold lip colours, but I have grown an affinity for them recently! I currently have bright red and bright fuschia pink lipsticks, and I am thinking about going tangerine! The key to bright lipstick is to keep the rest of the face soft and relatively neutral. Though I don’t think choosing a trendy lip colour is the way to go for your wedding day, I think it would be fun to choose for a pre-wedding event or if you’re a wedding guest! And if you’re the bride’s trendy little sister.

Check out some bright lip inspiration!

The Details: Wedding Ceremony

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas weekend and got some good boxing day deals! It’s been a weekend packed with family events and lots of food. Can’t complain!

I’ve been working on putting together pictures from the wedding ceremony and reception–yay!! Today is the second installment of “The Details”. First was the mendhi, today is the ceremony.

In a nutshell, the ceremony was simple and beautiful, with emotional moments.

J wore the blue sherwani he always wanted (well…wanted since he decided he would wear a sherwani), and I coordinated in my red lengha with blue stones and blue jewelry. I kept the jewelry to a minimum: earrings, tikka, necklace, and very traditional chuda (wedding bangles). Although I always wanted a naath, I couldn’t find one that matched my jewelry and I didn’t really have time to look! I also opted for simple, traditional chuda rather than the blinged out chuda I see everywhere. I grew up admiring my mom’s traditional chuda and always imagined I would wear similar ones. My lengha was amazingly comfortable and I felt awesome in it.

Make-up wise, I also kept it on the simpler side, but incorporated a little drama with awesome falsies, slightly smokey eye with dark blue shadow, and blue eyeliner. I looked and felt like me, only better.

Below are some pictures taken by the awesome Kumari team. Enjoy!

The next picture is in the above collage, but I wanted to post the full size pic–it’s one of my favourites!!

Here’s a pic of my eye make-up:

Are you there Wedding Show Gods? It’s me, LBB.

(Quick update: we met with Wedding Decor on Tuesday evening. The Perfect Setting cancelled due to illness, and we rescheduled for this upcoming Tuesday. I will give a detailed account following our meeting with The Perfect Setting, but for now I will tell you that our meeting with Wedding Decor was a bust.)

Dear Wedding Show Gods,

Are you there? It’s me. LBB. You are probably familiar with me and my fiance. J and I have been to two wedding shows so far. We went to a “Canadian” one in January at the Direct Energy Centre and to Suhaag in February. I wasn’t overly thrilled with either. The “Canadian” one was nice, but I didn’t walk away with much that was relevant to me. The Suhaag show was good (I met my design soul mate, and I won a prize for having the best engagement story–will post deets about the story one day soon), but the cacophony of sounds, colours, people, and general overstimulation was draining. The energy inputted did not equal the energy outputted.

Tomorrow (May 1, 2010) we are going to the Drake Hotel for The Spring Wedding Show, held in conjuction with The Wedding Co. I am super excited for this show because: 1) it’s at The Drake, so that means small and intimate and not gargantuan and overwhelming; 2)it’s at The Drake, so that means West Queen West and that means unique and creative…so hopefully that means lots of INSPIRATION (I am taking my camera); 3) West Queen West means West Queen West artisans; 4) West Queen West artisans means  a booth (or two or three!!) devoted to hair accessories, and that means I will be in hair accessory heaven!

As you can tell, ye Almighty Wedding Show Gods, I am looking forward to the show tomorrow. It’s going to rain and since I forgot to pick up my discounted May metropass from work, I’ll be walking to The Drake in the rain. I am sacrificing a good hair day and a stylish shoe day to make it to this auspicious event. I am asking you to promise me an eventful, idea-filled, and inspiring day.  Please, Wedding Show Gods, don’t disappoint me. You know me well. I’m LBB: cute, funny, witty, unforgettable, and totally awesome!
